TMT Supplier Conference

Architectural Concept Studies for the TMT Hawaii Headquarters and Other Buildings

September 28, 2009

TMT is pleased to announce a Supplier Conference to review the project’s requirements for “Architectural Concept Studies for its Hawaii Headquarters and Other Buildings” to be held on Monday September 28, 2009 at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel located at 71 Banyan Drive; Hilo, Hawaii 96720. The purpose of this one-day conference is to communicate and collaborate with interested firms about TMT’s anticipated plans to conduct concept studies that may include some or all of the following work:

  • Architectural and engineering services that initiate design studies that ultimately may lead to the preparation of construction documents, assistance in the bidding and awarding of a construction contract, and construction administration of an approximately 30,000 square foot headquarters building located in Hilo. The headquarters building will include offices, electronics, optics laboratories, mechanical laboratories, telescope control room and computer & IT spaces.
  • Conceptual design and cost estimate for dormitory, kitchen, dining and recreation facilities located at Hale Pohaku on Mauna Kea to house approximately 50 people.
  • Conceptual design and cost estimate for the renovation of historical stone buildings at Hale Pohaku as a cultural information center.
  • Conceptual design and cost estimate for an expansion of the Visitor’s Center at Hale Pohaku.

The Conference will share (i) TMT’s requirements and objectives for the concept studies, (ii) TMT’s procurement strategy for the concept studies, which will include discussion of the draft Request for Proposal (“RFP”) it is developing and (iii) information on how TMT will gather input, feedback and questions leading up to the release of the RFP.

Qualified organizations interested in attending should please contact Holly Novack at hnovack@tmt.org by Friday September 18, 2009 with the name of your firm and the number of persons planning to attend. It may be necessary to limit the number of attendees from each organization depending on the conference facility’s capacity.

Therefore, breakout sessions are intended for suppliers to provide additional information to TMT or to raise questions that will result in responses to all suppliers. Please let Holly Novack know if you would like a breakout session when making your reservation. We will do our best to speak to everyone who wishes to meet with us.

Prior arrangements can be made if a firm wishes TMT to execute a Non-Disclosure Agreement (“NDA”) prior to the Conference.

We look forward to seeing you at our Supplier Conference. If there are any questions, please contact Pratheep Eamranond at pratheep@tmt.org.
