TMT Request for Proposal for the Tertiary Mirror System Planning Study

The Thirty Meter Telescope ("TMT") project is pleased to invite your organization to respond to our Request for Proposal ("RFP") for the Tertiary Mirror System Planning Study (the "Study"). Your proposal should show how your organization would best meet our requirements.

It is important to adhere to all portions of the RFP and to not rely on previous specifications, data, or other information presented by the project including, but not limited to, the September 14, 2007 M2/M3 Supplier Conference Presentations. TMT will evaluate proposals which are fully responsive to the RFP and any amendments hereto.

The RFP and its amendments, clarifications and other information relevant to this procurement will be posted on our website. It is the responsibility of each bidder to monitor our website:
(http://www.tmt.org/business/index.html) for changes.

In addition, please note the following both prior to and during the formation of your proposal:

  1. The current Tertiary Mirror System Design Requirements Document ("M3S DRD"), attached to the RFP as Exhibit A, is a draft. A release version of the M3S DRD will be made available before the commencement of the Study contract.

  2. The statements of work ("SOW") for the Preliminary Design Phase ("PDP") and the Final Design / Fabrication Phase ("FDFP") are drafts. No changes to the draft PDP SOW and the FDFP SOW will be made for the Study but the documents may be revised for the PDP and FDFP.

  3. The latest versions of the Observatory Architecture Document ("OAD") and the Observatory Requirements Document ("ORD") will be available on our internet site.

  4. TMT established a budget for the Planning study and respondents are requested to submit proposals within the established budget.

On behalf of the TMT Project, I thank you for your interest in this critical effort and look forward to receiving your proposals.

Please direct all questions and inquiries from this point forward to the TMT Contracts Manager, Pratheep Eamranond (pratheep@tmt.org).

We look forward to your proposal.
