Sandra Dawson presents the Universe Tonight monthly talk.

A Dark and Stormy Night

It was a dark and stormy night... That is a good description of the hail, thunder, lightning, and fog at Hale Pohaku on Saturday June 4, as Sandra Dawson prepared to present the Universe Tonight monthly talk.  Due to the inclement weather, the summit tours were canceled. However, island-wide interest in the TMT project attracted a number of local residents, tourists and observatory and Hale Pohaku staff, and there was an overflow crowd for the 6 p.m. talk.

After her presentation, and a lively discussion with a number of interesting questions, Sandra talked with a group of college interns who hope to someday work on Mauna Kea, and for TMT.
