TMT at the 231st Meeting of the American Astronomical Society

TMT will participate in the upcoming American Astronomical Society’s AAS 231st Meeting in Washington, D.C., from January 8 through 12, 2018.

In addition to hosting a booth (#707) for the entire conference, TMT will hold an Open House from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in meeting room National Harbor 2.

Meeting-goers are invited to attend to learn about TMT’s continuing telescope and instrumentation development and the status of the observatory site, as well as to discuss the ongoing role of the U.S. astronomical community in planning the observatory and its future scientific programs. The TMT community is now engaged in planning future-generation instrumentation and adaptive optics systems, and project leaders will describe opportunities for astronomers to become involved in the planning process. TMT will also highlight its ongoing activities in education, workforce development, and public outreach.

Members of the U.S. TMT Science Working Group will attend the Open House, and there will be ample time for audience questions and discussion. Complimentary refreshments will be provided.
