TIO Staff Enjoyed AstroDay Hilo

✨ Mahalo to everyone who joined us for AstroDay Hilo! ✨

AstroDay 2025, the 23rd annual science celebration hosted by Maunakea Observatories, returned to Prince Kūhiō Plaza in Hilo on 3 May.  TMT had a booth there and really enjoyed letting the keiki experience science  hands-on.  We had a blast sharing the wonders of STEAM and astronomy with hundreds of ʻohana. From UV and glow-in-the-dark bead bracelets, rainbow glasses that revealed the hidden spectrum of light, to hands-on electric circuit fun with energy sticks, there was curiosity and laughter everywhere.

One of our favorite moments? Watching our project manager Fengchuan explain how circuits work by joining hands with a family to complete the energy stick loop. Science is connection — literally and figuratively!

Big mahalo to the UH Institute for Astronomy for organizing this annual event and to our amazing volunteers and partners who made this day of discovery possible. Until next time, keep looking up!
